Katrina

Wow. That was an incredible and horrific storm that has left a lot of people in even more horrific shape. I can't begin to image how terrible things must be for the people affected by that hurricane.

I hope you and yours are well.

Quicker Update

Well, maybe...

I stumbled upon Hal Sparks' band. It was called metal where I first saw it (www.wikipeda.org) but it's more like popular rock music. I have to admit, despite being a typical Hollywood-type, he actually sings pretty well. And he solos too. Not too shabby for Hollywood. I bet Keanu Reeves...is....mad. (I was trying to type like Keanu acts, but I just can't do it poorly enough.)

Also, today is Rachel Ray's birthday. Normally, I wouldn't think she's too smokin', but man, the cover of her new cookbook is sweet, and by sweet, I mean, totally tent-esque.

Sweet Muffin

The cookbook is called, "How to Cook Liver Steamed Brussel Sprouts and still get your meat and potatoes man to eat them."

It's flying off the shelves. I own four copies myself.

That's all for now. I guess it wasn't quicker afterall.

Smell ya later.

Quick Update

It was hard to get up today. I had been away from work for 11 days. That's why there were no new posts.

Let's see.

Vacation was nice.
Newcastles were enjoyed.
No sun burn.

Red paint is finally drying.
Peanut butter looks good.
Installed disposal.
Got some tools.
Got a cow bell.
Set up the Ping Pong table.
Need to call Von Schmidt.

Have to start studying.

Ouch

Painting and moving things really makes my back sore. In the condo, everything was on the same floor, now I'm going up and downstairs multiple times a day. I've already lost 1 billion pounds since we've moved in. The dining room is really starting to look nice. I hope we can get the walls painted before we visit Capt. Penniman.

Last night, we got our first taste of living in the wild wilderness. The power went out around 7:30 PM and was out for almost 2 hours. Good thing we have a grill to cook dinner on. We had steak tips and cucumber salad. It was pretty scary being outside in the darkness of night, cooking delicious smelling food. Then a bear came out of the woods, looking to eat my dinner. He must have been between 50 and 600 pounds and between 12 inches and 8 feet tall. I had to fend him off with my in-depth knowledge of kung fu. The worst thing is, he ate one of the skewers of beef. But there was three was Michelle and I still got one each, and later on when the power came back on, the bear came in and had a few beers with us.

I found a new comic named
F Minus. So far, I've found it to be hit or miss, some days are very funny, others are only mildly amusing if that.

The Most Exciting Thing

So, this weekend a very exciting thing happened to me...
I found out that I am 4th overall for net score in my golf league with 63 total strokes for 18 holes! That puts me in the money$$

Hmm...what else? Oh yeah, we moved into a house.
It's a basic colonial type house, so I was able to get a "blueprint" of the place.

Check it out:

I live here
That's pretty much how it looks, except we have 2.5 baths, not just 2, and the front room on the first floor is the dining room, not the kitchen.

So far, we haven't unpacked any broken things. There were so many boxes to move, and the friends and family that helped us moved said that we didn't even really have that much. Man, it's so nice to be back at work so I can finally get some sleep.

After living there for 4 days now, I can assess the work we have to do, because, as with any new home, there's always some things that have to be done to make it your home.
I've made a list of pros and cons:

CON: The barbershop style bathroom mirrors, not really our taste, are glued to the walls. It will be a pain in the you-know-what to take them down and avoid 7 years of bad luck.
PRO: A drum set in the basement.

CON: The berber carpet in the family room and dining room. Again, not really our taste. We want to put in hardwood on the floor in the dining room, and a softer, fluffier carpet in the family room.
PRO: A drum set in the basement

CON: The kitchen actually has less cupboard and counter space then the condo kitchen did. We'll have to get a baker's rack or rolling island to increase the cooking space.
PRO: A drum set in the basement

CON: So far, I've found 4 bees' nests in the yard, one right in by the front door. It's a mild pro as well though because it was exciting to spray them with Raid.
PRO: A drum set... you get the point.

CON: Ted Kaczynski
PRO: Tiger Woods

If you did help, thank you for helping us move in. If not, you're a big jerk. (Nah, I'm just kidding, you're a fine example of humankind. - Flexo.)
